Get Involved

STACS is a teacher-led organisation, supporting and collaborating with the Computing Science teacher community to collectively advance Computing Science.

Help Advance Computing Science

There are numerous ways to get involved.

  • Everyone has something to give. You might excel in using a particular teaching tool, be confident in a specific topic area, or have achieved success with broader school initiatives. Sign up to become a learning link and assist others.

  • Do you have a skill you'd love to learn? Perhaps how to use a particular tool or ideas on how to deliver a specific topic? Do you have skills you'd like to share? Is there a topic you're confident in, where you can help someone and share your ideas, experience, and knowledge?

The Computing Science teaching community is filled with such talented individuals! STACS will connect teachers looking for particular skills so we can exchange ideas, learn, and help each other. Feel free to add new skills or seek skills as many times as you like throughout the year. Request a skill below.

  • Are you looking to bring together CS teachers to network, share ideas, and exchange lessons learned? Following the success of the #cssconnect event hosted by Tony Harkins at St Aloysius, Glasgow, several teachers expressed their desire to have a similar event in their council. If this is something you would like assistance with, please let us know. STACS would be happy to help coordinate and collaborate with teachers to make it happen.

  • We are always looking for teachers in primary and secondary schools at every stage of their career, from PGDE students, probationers, teachers, PTCs, DHTs, HTs, and more, to take part. If you have something you'd like to share with other teachers and would like to be a speaker for the next STACS virtual festival, please get in touch. You can also collaborate with other teachers on this.

You can view last years speakers here.

  • We are all delivering the same courses. Let’s work together and share resources to support each other. Share resources via #CSSDrive, a shared drive with over 550 individuals already sharing.

    DM Darren Brown to join.

  • Do you have an idea that you think will help other Computing Science teachers? Are you looking for assistance to get it off the ground or make it happen? Let us know; we'd love to hear about it, and if we can help, we will. We can achieve more by working together. You can provide more details below.

  • This is a free tool for all teachers delivering Computing Science, including over 250 pre-loaded starters. It offers videos, 'did you know' facts about the tech sector in Scotland to prompt discussions, coding questions, and a diary feature. It supports teachers in organizing lesson starters for all their classes and provides the ability to save favorites.

This is a great opportunity for the Computing Science community to come together and contribute to the tool, so that everyone can benefit.

Here is the link to the tool.
