Replit withdrawing Teams for Education

The recent announcement that Replit is withdrawing the Teams for Education product was an unpleasant shock. The extremley short notice has left many educators scrambling for alternatives. Given the substantial following of Replit Teams in Scotland, it's evident that this decision has significant implications for our teaching community. We are aware of the considerable time and effort that many teachers have invested in creating resources and projects within the Replit platform.

We understand that many teachers have been advised to fork copies of their projects in Replit Teams into their personal accounts. While we acknowledge that this process can be a substantial undertaking, we are heartened to learn that some teachers are already working towards finding efficient solutions to accelerate this transition.

In the spirit of collaboration and support within the teaching community, those who manage to streamline this process have expressed their intent to share their findings. We are committed to disseminating these solutions widely, as we believe it will significantly save time for educators facing the challenge of migrating their projects.

Recognising the challenges that teachers now face, we are actively working to explore alternative solutions that not only meet the educational needs and requirements but also align with budget constraints for Computing Science departments.

Please take 5 minutes to complete our short survey below. This will help us capture data on the main challenges you anticipate in moving to an alternative IDE and will raise any issues and continue to advocate for Computing Science teachers. We will also curate all the alternative tools that could be used to support each topic and will share widely to help teachers make an informed decision moving forward.

We are committed to supporting the Computing Science teaching community during this challenging time so if you need any support, guidance or if individuals think an online meeting to discuss and explore ideas as a wider community let us know and we can make this happen.
